Organizing, Buying Dolls, and Estate Sale Finds

Howdy! How are you doing? It’s Rachel here with a little catch-up. We had a busy week since our last doll shop blog. We had a fun weekend and a great start to the week. How are you doing? We have been busy in the doll shop, working on dolls, and meeting some new friends.

Two new friends from Frisco, Colorado, arrived at the doll shop late last week to bring us two special dolls for the shop. We did a quick interview with Roy and Gail that was so much fun. You can view this on YouTube.

We have been working on dolls for the shop shelves and our website. Linda styled several wonderful French bisque dolls. One of our favorites is this sweet Steiner - her previous owner named her “Claudette” which is perfect.

We also added several of our favorite Jumeau dolls to our shop website. It feels good to be in the swing of things with listing our sweet ladies on our website.

We are happy to report that we have a new Doll Shop Team Member to help with daily operations. Remember our ‘Dancing Boys?” Well, one of them was laid off during the pandemic and he does great work with photos, and helping list items online - plus anything else we need. This is the kind of shop help that we have been looking for so Erik is hired. He said that he is happy working here - all this ‘doll stuff’ is new to him but he is learning so fast and doing a great job.

Over the weekend, I had a great time scouting estate sales for fun items to add to our shop. It was quite a saga that entailed a Bob Mackie dress, and a huge 7-foot soldier for decor for our shop around Christmas. The whole experience was a lot of fun, and filming it to share with you was extra exciting. Thank you for coming along with us!

One of the highlights of my week was receiving a wonderful package from Lauren and her daughter, Mya. They watch all of our YouTube videos and are such sweet gals.

Mya is 10 and 1/2 years old and she sent this letter and original Raggedy Ann art. Isn’t this just the SWEETEST?!

In other news, Linda’s 101 year old mother, LaVaughn, worked hard this week to iron hankies for our shop and she did a lot of work preparing rhubarb to freeze. She is just the BEST!! LaVaughn’s top advice is to live a clean life, and love Jesus. She is not wrong!

You can see our doll shop interview with her here.

The big storage pod that was in the front of our shop is now officially gone. Whooo hooo!! We are always cleaning the shop and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Robert Tonner Grace dolls so we can get busy to ship them to their new homes. We also hope to add a bunch to our $1.00 listings on eBay this week.

Oh, and Linda and Stephanie did a fun tutorial all on their own showing how they clean doll clothing in the shop.
